11. Declaration of ethics and good editorial practices

Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa has a deep commitment to the quality of the content it publishes, to the integrity of the research processes that give rise to these papers, to ethical aspects and to good scientific editorial practices.

These criteria of academic integrity affect its Editorial Team, the Scientific Committee, the production team, the reviewers and the authors.

The journal is governed by the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity. In particular, by the following principles: honesty in all aspects and processes of research and scientific publishing; rigor and compliance with the rules established for the performance of research and editorial work; assessment of the work of third parties; care and respect for the participants in the research, evaluation and editing processes.

Within this framework, Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa states:

1. Editorial policies of authorship and contributions

Manuscripts submitted for evaluation to Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa must be original and unpublished, and cannot have been submitted or be in a review process in another publication or other means of scientific dissemination. An article is not considered to be unpublished when it has been previously published as part of a digital or printed publication.

When submitting the paper, all authors must accept the conditions described in the Submissions section, as well as in the Authors' responsibility document. This document must be signed by each of the authors who, in addition, will identify their contribution in the Additional file (see more details in the Submissions section), according to the taxonomy implemented by CRediT Taxonomy.

Articles may originate from theses, conference papers or research documents. In this case, the authors are requested to include an explanatory note in which they mention the first place where the manuscript was presented. In no case may the work keep the same title as its first version.

Manuscripts are only received through the Open Journal System platform and, from that moment on, they are identified with a random number assigned by the system. They are then analyzed by the Editorial Team, to determine compliance with the criteria indicated in the Author Guidelines, to verify the anonymity of the files and to carry out an anti-plagiarism review with the Turnitin tool. Subsequently, the expert peer review is initiated and, according to the result, it is decided whether the manuscript will be published or not. This process is carried out with the idea that the anonymity between authors and reviewers is protected at all times.

Before the publication of the article, all authors must have completed the Additional file and the Author´s responsibility document, in which they include their identification, the authorship contribution, the roles in the preparation of the work and, finally, they will assign their rights for the publication in Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa.

Contribution of the authors according to the Taxonomy CRediT

In the manuscripts of two or more authors, the identification of the contributions of each of them is requested in order to maintain academic integrity and reduce the possibility of disputes or conflicts of authorship. This information will be included in the Additional file and it is possible that a single author performs, simultaneously, several roles.

In accordance with the provisions of the CRediT Taxonomy, the following roles are established:

a) Conceptualization: devise, formulate or design the objectives of the research.
b) Data curation: develop activities to collect, clean and normalize data, as well as to produce metadata.
c) Formal analysis: apply statistical techniques to analyze or synthesize the study data.
d) Financing: obtain financial support for the project to be carried out.
e) Research: conduct the research and, specifically, collect the data or evidence.
f) Methodology: develop or design the methodology, create models.
g) Administration: manage and coordinate the project, the planning and execution of the research.
h) Resource management: provide the study materials and other analysis tools.
i) Software: program and develop software and algorithms.
j) Supervision: lead the planning and execution of the research.
k) Validation: verify the general replicability and reproducibility of the results and of other research products.
l) Visualization: prepare, create and present visual aids that allow visualizing the data and results.
m) Writing of the draft: write the initial draft of the article.
n) Review of the manuscript: comment, review and approve the final manuscript.

2. Complaints and appeals

Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa is open to the receipt of complaints and appeals, through the email cuadernosie@ort.edu.uy. Communications will be received by the editor-in-chief and managed by the Editorial Team, guaranteeing the anonymity of the complainant. The journal maintains strict control over compliance with editorial ethics, as well as with the assessments made by external reviewers.

In response to this, and in accordance with the provisions of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), the protocol for the investigation of an alleged infringement is followed, which in general terms means:

- Detection of the violation and communication to the author.
- Notification to the Editorial Team and the Scientific Committee on the receipt of a complaint, through the usual channels of the journal (email or message on social networks).
- Preparation of a report by the Editorial Team.
- Urgent meeting of the members of the Editorial Team, in which the case will be evaluated and the measures to follow will be considered.

The editors will be responsible for applying the defined measures. If the lack of ethics is verified, the article will receive a sanction that can be an errata, corrigendum or retraction.

At maximum, it will be rejected and, if it was already published, the article will be removed from the publication and a retraction will be made. Consequently, the author will not be able to publish again in the journal and the infringement will be communicated to his/her direct superior.

3. Editorial policies in case of conflict of interest

The Editorial Team of the Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa journal supervises that the review and evaluation processes of the manuscripts do not incur in conflicts of interest. For this purpose, the anonymity of the manuscripts is controlled prior to the communication with the evaluators. When selecting the evaluators, it is sought that they are experts in the area of study and that they do not have institutional contact with the authors.

The reviewers, authors and members of the Editorial Team have the obligation to declare any conflict of interest detected in the editorial process, whether financial or otherwise. The purpose of these actions is to safeguard the reliability of the work of the authors, evaluators, editors and others involved in the process.

4. Editorial policies regarding the reproduction and collaboration of the contents

Duplication is defined as the possibility of textually reproducing content or papers which may have different formats, for example, printed or digital. The journal permits the use of previously reproduced or published material, as long as its use is justified in the submitted manuscript and it always includes a legend that clearly states that it is a duplicate, so as to differentiate it from the original.
